My GREEN DIWALI

by | 21-10-2014 20:55 recommendations 0

Today is the Deepavali eve and tomorrow is Deepavali in India.  People are celebrating it with sweets, new dresses and crackers.  But I never burst crackers because my family is a green family.  Moreover in my young age like upto third standard I usually use sparklers with less smoke, but afterwards I never do that also in order to protect our planet earth green and clean.

On my fifth class I had a chance to visit Sivakasi where the crackers are made in large numbers.  In  one function I watched a story of fire workers" children, they lost their parents in the fire work accident.  So I decided to kindle awareness among my friends and relatives about  no cracker Deepavali and I give awareness every year like pamphlet issuing etc.  This year I spread the message through social medias.

Every year the TNPCB and Police department put strict rules regarding crackers bursting.  That is they urging people to stick to bursting of crackers only between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., and people should refrain from bursting crackers that produced a sound above 125 dB such as atom, hydrogen and bullet bombs and joint crackers like 1,000 wallahs. that is they have been requested to impose a ban on bursting of fire crackers producing above 125 dB throughout the day.

Why can not every one come forward to buy saplings instead of buying crackers?  That is why I spread my message to the mass number of people through facebook.  If anyone receive that message kindly forward or share with you friends too.  Because we need green future without air pollution.  This is not only for Deepavali but for any function where people use or burst crackers.

Guru:Thanks so much for inspiring people to go for smokefree , pollution free and safe Diwali. I also wonder many times. What benefit does burning crackers bringrather wastage of money , polluting air , creating noise pollution , so dangerous , then why do people burn crackers-just for pleasure-is it really worth it at the cost of hurting Mother Earth. Let's all continue spreading awareness about smoke free festivals.

Happy Diwali Guru! I am so proud that you are doing campaign for more eco-friendly holiday throughout your community. It's sad to hear about children lost their parents due to fireworks used for the festival. I double agree with your words related with fireworks and crackers.

Celebrations often bring a sense of carelessness and regrettable behaviour.
You have done a great job by encouraging people in your area to celebrate responsibly, Vishnu.
    Keep up the good work.
