My Pokhara Visit

by | 03-11-2014 12:34 recommendations 0

There?s a saying? Travelling broadens mind?. Whenever I travel new places or even make journey to the same place, I get to learn more new things and look the world from different angel. To utilize my time of vacation, I along with my neighbor friends made three day trip to Pokhara, most popular and beautiful tourist destination of Nepal.

Pokhara is specially known for its natural beauties. On the very first day of our tour we enjoyed visiting the places like Phewa lake and Begnas tal which is popular for boating and also for Barahi Temple. Also Nation Fish Research Centre is located  in Phewa lake. Being agriculture students, it was quite important for me to visit research centre as well. Then we enjoyed the lake side, walking at the trail on the lake side.

Next day, early in the morning, we went to Sarankot hill to see the sun rise. We were lucky enough to see the beautiful sunrise. Moreover, golden light of rising sun as reflected by mighty Himalayan ranges made me feel like as though I was in heaven. I was mesmerized by the beauty of mountain Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. There was crowd of tourist to see the fantastic aspect of nature and capture the moments in cameras. After that, we went down the hill to make it feel like short trekking. On the way, we could see the full view of Phewa lake, which looked totally amazing. Then we went to Peace Pagoda which was located on another hill. View of Pokhara city from Pagoda was enchanting. Our next destination was Davis fall. The sound of wind and falls make the place so pleasing.

On our last day of tour, we went to Chamero Gufa and Mahendra Cave then into International Mountain Museum. International Mountain Museum has beautiful articheture. It?s filled with so much information about mountain, biodiversity, ethnic group of Himalayan region, climate change effect, mountaineers, mountain mysteries and other aspects of Mountain. This was the place which I enjoyed most as I was able to get to know almost everything of Mountain. The best part of museum I liked about is the preference given to climate change effect, how ethnic group and other people are living/adjusting with changing climate scenario, effect of debris in melting of snow, GLOF causes. I will write in detail about what I learned in the museum in upcoming ambassador report.

After that we went back to our home.

As an eco-lover person, I was satisfied to see the people of Pokhara being conscious in saving their environment. Many of them we concerned about climate change and global warming as they are threat to Mountains. People here seem to be concerned with maintenance of cleanliness as well. One resident said to me, ?Here we are very much concerned about climate change and we do our best to promote eco-tourism. You can see youth and women led organizations keeping dustbins at various places and actively campaigning for protection of environment. Companies take thoe plastics and bottles and recycle them.? He was right. Everywhere I could see the dustbins which collected plastics and bottles for recycling. This is very nice example for other cities as well to follow same suit.

We did our best to leave fewer footprints by walking the trail, using boat instead of fuel fed vehicles and making our visit eco-friendly in every way possible.

I enjoyed a lot especially natural beauty of Pokhara, short trekking and International Museum. I was delighted to see more eco-conscious people in Pokhara. I would like to request you all to come and visit the place.

Thanks for the report on your Pokhra visit, Rahul.
It is very nice to know that the people of this city are eco-conscious & the area is kept litter free.
It is a highly popular tourist destination & if the people of the city are so environmentally aware than it is icing on the cake.
Any report presented with pictures enhances its value. It will be great if we can also see the mesmerizing sunrise from Sarankot hill.
