Green points reward scheme for using public transport |

Dubai is always at forefront when it comes to green living regulations . Another great initiative by Dubai?s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)-green point system . RTA launches reward schemes for public transport commuters and users of its apps. Regular public transport commuters would win big rewards, as every kilometre travelled on buses, the Metro and tram will translate into a green point, in a new scheme by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The initiative that will go live from next month is aimed at encouraging greater use of public transport among all sections of society. The green point scheme will also cover users of RTA?s mobile applications as well as customers using RTA services through the internet and call centre . Idea is to discourage customers from visiting customer care centres and thereby reducing carbon footprint .. Public transport users will be able to accumulate points through their daily commute. The green score allows traveler to earn points every time he/she rides Dubai?s public transport or perform a digital transaction with RTA?s Licensing Agency. For every transaction with RTA a customer will earn 36 points and every kilometre travelled on public transport will translate into one point. Top point earners will then be rewarded annually. Isn?t it amazing? Schemes like this would spread awareness about green living , would encourage people to use public transport which will further not only reduce carbon footprint but would also reduce traffic congestion on the roads. Dubai is really good in terms of technology for the promotion of the environment. Hope this project will be stronger in other countries! This is a good priority of the government!
