Labour Camp in UAE turns 100% Solar

Dear Readers, this is sustainably true. A Labour camp in Ajman, UAE housing 800 workers with a power load of 50KW operates on 100% Solar power. It means all of the power glutton ACs, Electric Pumps, Kitchen Appliances, Water Heaters, Chillers, Lighting systems etc. operates on the ecological solar power energy.

This labour camp is situated in a remote area, thus the power availability was not there at the time of building the same. The owners had the cheap option of installing diesel generators for power generation. But this was not to be. They are environmentally conscious responsible residents of this nation. Therefore, they decided to go solar. This means a huge initial investment in the beginning. But this does not deterred them from taking a giant green step. This has reduced the carbon footprint to a great extent & is a great contribution to the sustainable energy policy of the UAE.

As per the owners of the labour camp. The huge initial investment can be recovered in three years. This will be achieved by saving the Diesel cost, Repair & maintenance cost, Consumable cost of the conventional diesel gen sets. Furthermore, even if the camp is connected with the electricity network of the Emirate, there will not be monthly power bills. All these savings are long term. And the repair & maintenance of solar power system is not expensive.

Due to the geographical location of the UAE, abundant sunshine is available throughout the year. And believe me friends, this camp operates all the electric appliances in the night as well, by storing the energy during the day light.

This is great initiative & a huge motivation to all the companies, labour camps etc. to go solar. Solar power in indeed sustainable, environmentally friendly & renewable. This initiative has been praised all over the UAE by the government & public sectors.

Thanks for reading.

It feels so good to see environmental conscious citizens in UAE. I salute this sustainable green step of labour camp- installing solar power instead of cheap diesel generators. We can largely reduce emissions if solar be used in our home, schools, offices and wherever possible

Thank you for sharing this great news! It's amazing! Although the benefit would surpass the primary cost to build the solar power system in 2~3 years, it's a never easy decision to act on long-term, sustainable view. Thumbs up for the citizens in Dubai :D
