Social Empowerment through Work and Action (SEWA)

by | 14-11-2014 19:05 recommendations 0

Every year we are observing SEWA Day in our school that involves performing an act of kindness without any expectation of reward. Students, are encouraged to volunteer across a wide range of activities to experience the joy of giving in its truest sense. Sewa, means ?selfless service? in Sanskrit. Sewa activities are stretched throughout the months of October and November in our School and across the UAE. People around the world are encouraged to support their local community by volunteering their time and resources for the benefit of others by getting directly involved in various events of environmental and humanitarian activities.

One of the initiative taken by us is of preserving and conserving the environment by recycling, Clean-up drives, planting saplings and educating children and young adults. Tree Plantation was organized within the school premises to mark the day. We had collected recyclables materials like toners, papers, mobiles, plastics in huge amount and raised awareness about the importance of protecting the environment.

Students really felt that there is nothing so easy to learn as experience and nothing so hard to apply for sharing, caring and giving back to the society in which we live.

The Sewa Day initiative encourages participants to live by the principles of protecting the environment and develop a sense of accountability. Through the wide range of activities organized by us, students were encouraged to think about their local community and the positive impact they can have on others if they volunteered their time for the betterment of society.

I really like seeing how young people is more aware to the environment rather than older people. It makes my hope high for the future generation. Awareness must be taught since young, and you are one of the example of a succeed young people that willing to care more to the environment. Keep it up and spread your kindness.

Very well done Mohit. I believe we celebrate every day as SEWA day.
Whatever service we may render for our mother earth is tiny as compared with the blessings endowed by her.
You have indeed collected a sizable quantity of recyclables. Congrats for the same.

Thanks , Mohit , for introducing SEWA day to us. The title is so apt and meaningful for such activities. I feel , no event /festival is complete without doing some good environment /earth friendly deed . You all gave very good meaning to this SEWA day/month by taking up environmental cause. I like what's written on your Tshirt" I am the change".Good job , thanks for your inspiring and very well written report.
