Youth support for United Nations Climate Change Conference 2014 gathers pace in Dubai- by Simran Vedvyas A simulation conference – COP in MyCity 2014 – successfully took place on Saturday (15.11.14) at the University of Wollongong in Dubai engaging nearly a hundred students from 15 institutions including high schools and universities forming the city?s energetic youth segment with negotiations at the United Nations Climate Change Convention to be held in Lima, Peru this December. Acting in my role as COP in MyCity (CIMS) Country Ambassador for the UAE, I understand that Young people today represent half the planet. Mobilizing my generation by increasing knowledge about climate change and deepening the interconnections existing between international climate negotiations and local climate action is extremely important. We need to create a strong international and multi-cultural community of young agents of change committed to fight against climate change. I hope that activities surrounding this year?s COP in MyCity in Dubai will go some way in meeting this aim. COP in MyCity Dubai 2014 formatted as a simulation conference aspired to echo negotiations at the United Nations Climate Change Convention (the twentieth meeting of the Conference of the Parties) to be held in Lima, Peru, from 1 – 12 December. COP in MyCity Dubai 2014 engaged Dubai?s young people role play the selected countries who are due to be present at this year s United Nations Conference during a simulation debate. COP in MyCity 2014 is part of an international initiative which aims to educate and foster interest in climate change action by building a community of youth change-makers globally. Attendees of COP in MyCity 2014 were joined by His Highness Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Ali Al Nuaimi – the Green Shaikh- who interestingly engaged and enlightened the conference delegates with his knowledge and expertise of Sustainability Responsibility. Simplicity of small acts making up great leaders and followers with love, and shelter for all were highlighted too. The seriousness of the threat that climate change poses on the mankind and the rise in numbers of environment refugees with having no international agreements to action support for them was a key point heightened. Mr Rob Bradley, a senior expert in climate change and the energy sector, was present to moderate the event and engaged the youth delegates as they role play in their assigned country positions. His expert comments and suggestions enthused great energy into the two sessions of argumentative debate from all the present delegates. National TV City 7 also telecasted the event News at 7pm |

I think I know that event in Lima, Peru. Is it about the Global Landscapes and climate change? I can see your active participation and your interest in such environmental forum like this to be more equipped someday.

Wish cop would come to Tunisia but this seemed like such a great opportunity that involves youth and how they perceive such issues like climate change and the environment in general.
Keep up the good work :)
