Maids taught to segregate waste

by Arushi Madan | 29-11-2014 20:31 recommendations 0

Waste management company in Dubai DULSCO has started a unique campaign of educating maids/domestic helpers for waste segregation at source .

Dulsco had distributed over 6,000 black and green bins for general and recyclable waste in these areas in May this year. But a close monitoring of the bins since had revealed that many homes were not disposing their waste as expected. That made them realise that awareness campaigns are only half effective when you talk to the homeowners. So they felt the need to educate maids who actually manage waste at the source.

Great job. When it comes about teaching some good eco freindly habits, we must reach out to maids. Quite useful article. Thank you Arushi for sharing :)

That's well thought. Most of these waste management and energy saving principles are better off solved if we start from our own door steps.

Well begun is half done. Maids are in a better position to segregate the waste.
It is important to educate them.
    Well reported.

I believe that such campaigns are really common, old, and inefficient, we need something new, something creative

Educating maids, quite challenging. I believe that it is the homeowner should be responsible for telling the maids to segregate the waste. Because it is not a matter of only people in charge, but also surrounding people. We need to raise awareness to whoever the person is. Reminding each other is a conclusion, i suppose. :)
