Environmental Poster Auction for Charity |
---|
School students from six institutions participated in the competition. About eighty posters were collected and 10 posters won prize in two category. The event was sponsored by Rotary Club of Dhaka Mahanagar. While presenting the winner posters in a meeting, Rotarian Mahjabeen Fatima Omar gave a wonderful idea. She wanted to organize a fun auction to sell the posters to raise money for underprivileged children. And finally last Wednesday on December 10, 2014 I got the chance to organize the auction with the help of Miss Omar. Miss Omar and I went to a frame shop to frame the posters. We framed 11 posters that day. The auction was so fun, I believe everyone enjoyed the idea and was willing to buy the posters for charity. We have collected around $260. With the auction money we could organize another development program for the society. WED Poster Competition was organized to raise awareness among the school students on environment. I can assure you that the event had a minimum impact on the students those who participated in the competition. Rotary International is a group of community leaders and global citizens uniting for the common good. We all know that Rotary International has contributed much for Polio Free World. Rotary Club of Dhaka Mahanagar is a small part of the great community. |

Great idea-auctioning poster for fundraising for another noble & environment event. This is sustainability in it's true sense.
So you framed and auctioned only 11 of them. But may be -you could have framed and auctioned all 80 to raise more funds, giving more variety to buyers and also to encourage to painters/participants.
I had organised an "ENVIRO-ART" competition few months ago and after the event , were wondering what to do with art pieces/paintings, especially few were exceptionally good and were paimted on bamboo T shirts. We donated to charity by dropping in charity boxes. But your idea is much better as it ensures instant funds generation to hold another charity /environment event. Superb. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Asadullahil, I am happy to read this report for many reasons, I am involved in Rotaract Club of Narayangarh Nepal so I am proud to see the contribution of Rotary Club (parent of Rotaract Club) of Dhaka Mahanagar. The creative idea of selling the posters to raise fund is a creative idea. Keep up your high spirits in the coming days too. Cheers for your worthy deed :)
Also I would like to correct the sentence- the event had Maximum impact (But we can understand :) )

Noble Idea, Galib. The framing was a good decision. The purchaser can hang the posters easily.
The art work in the pics supplied looks really creative.
Thanks for the report.
