Environmental Illinois, organization which has been working to solve the environmental issues of Illinois, published a new document which showed 24 out of 25 people living in the countries have hit by storms, record hit flooding and wildfires.
U.S. Senate Dick Durban joined Environmental Illinois to release the report which has documented how global warming is able to cause devastating weather disaster more often and common in the future.
The report tells the 1% precipitation increase in the U.S. would lead 20% increase of storms at the end of the century in this global warming world.
Mr.Nathan Wilcox, the director of federal global warming program , said,"The bottom line is that extreme weather is happening, it is causing very serious problems, and global warming increases the likely hood that we will see even more extreme weather in the future. Carbon pollution from our power plants, cars and trucks is fueling global warming, and so tackling global warming demands that we cut emissions of carbon pollution from the sources."
The weather disasters caused by global warming is not the issue only limited in the U.S., also 93% statistics, people affected by weather disasters in rural areas, are not foreign to Korea's situation.
However, environmental issues are political and timely matters. Policies which would bring quick solutions to the eyes of people take preferences in politics. I hope, before it is too late, our government will take closer look at our current status regarding global warming.
