Abu Dhabi based Social Organisation Natham has conceptualized a water bank [Bank Al Miyah in Arabic] where through a mobile app the residents can open an account, show proof of saving water & every quarter they are entitled to participate in a draw to win AED 250,000.
After opening the account in Bank Al Miyah, on the mobile phones, the residents of UAE Capital are required to upload their utility bills. Comparing past 2 months if the savings are over15% they are entitled to potentially win the price money. This is as simple as that.
You are aware through many reports at this forum that per capita water consumption of UAE is among highest in the world 350 liters per person per day. In a desert area this is amazing & shocking as well. Now, in order to curtail this high consumption & also to conserve the environment it is wise to save water. A saving of as little as 5% also matters a lot. Billions of liters of water can be saved.
Complete Re-use of the waste water in another item on the agenda of UAE. Currently they re-use 60% of treated sewage water [which is very high figure indeed]. By 2018 they have planned to increase this to 100%. This is quite challenging task but I?m sure that they will definitely achieve this as the Government is quite focused at this.
In the light of World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi beginning tomorrow such steps are indeed in the right direction to show the solidarity & commitment of UAE Government to care for the global warming & other environmental menaces.

This is very motivating, Raunak.
Water must be preserved & conserved with or without any reward. But rewards are welcome as they encourage to do better then best.
