UAE's steps for energy conservation

by | 19-01-2015 23:49 recommendations 0

With global warming leading to climate change and the population set to grow to nine billion by 2050, sustaining the basic quality of life is increasingly becoming a challenge these days.We are consuming so much, and so quickly, that we are already living far beyond the earth's capacity to support us. Integrating sustainable practices in the way we live and work is therefore imperative.

UAE has been taking significant steps to overcome this challenge. Here is a short report of the latest energy conservation practices taken by UAE.

-Reduction of energy consumption

Dubai Municipality aims to reduce its energy consumption through lighting by 50 per cent, resulting in savings of 6,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year. It will focus on using natural lighting where possible and switching to energy-efficient LED lights at 260 municipality-affiliated centres.

-Solar powered eco-friendly parks

Al Khazan park is an eco-friendly park situated in Al Wasl road, Jumeirah, Dubai. It is entirely powered by solar energy systems. The whole park uses sustainable natural and artistic elements that echo Dubai?s approach to preserving nature.
