In order to preserve the environment & reduce the carbon emissions Dubai Electricity & Water Authotiy [DEWA] has installed 120,000 smart meters that were linked to the company network in Jan-2015. These smart meters can specify the Electricity & water consumption & are capable to resolve issues within seconds. This was announced in an ongoing The Government Summit in Duabi by the chief executive of DEWA.

By this measure the consumer can know exactly his consumption & carbon footprint that is consumed and this can give him a further incentive to improve efficiency.

a person can know exactly his consumption and carbon footprint that is consumed and this can give him a further incentive to improve efficiency.?

They also plan to link households to solar power grids. The surplus energy in an area thus can be purchased by DEWA & passed on to the other customers. They have diversified sources of energy Today, a person can know exactly his consumption and carbon footprint that is consumed and this can give him a further incentive to improve eftoand are looking for Nuclear, Renewable, Clean & Solar energy.

In the sustainability index Dubai & Abu Dhabi Leads in the Middle East, being placed at 33rd & 34th position respectively.

It shows & proves the commitment of UAE authorities to reduce the carbon footprint & increase sustainability. What we all can do is follow simple steps in order to reduce the energy consumption.

You may set the AC temp. @ 24 degree celsius.

Switch off the appliances when not using them.

Remove mobile charger from the socket after the charging is complete.

Wash vegetables in a pan not under running water.

Very simple tips & many times given, but they are effective & will reduce energy consumption for sure.

Thanks for the easy and adoptable tips about saving electricity and water.smart meter sounds interesting. I love the concept of joining household with solar power Friday and saving those unsed energy for other porposes or places. And also if we, the consumers know how much we are consuming and carbon footprint we left behid, we will certainly be more aware and easily accept reneagle resources as the prime source of energy for us.
Thanks for the report and the link Raunak.
