Titled ?SAVE ONE MEGAWATT POWER A DAY? this was an unique event managed and conducted entirely by two children – Kehkashan Basu and Shweta Marandi , both Tarumitra members and activists.
We presented the story of how a tribal girl from Bihar , India – Shweta Marandi , who inspired a movement of non-usage of filament bulbs and planting trees , thereby saving 1 megawatts of power each day .
The presentation commenced with Kehkashan Basu , TUNZA Ecogeneration Ambassador for the Middle East and UAE representative of Tarumitra introducing the amazing work that this international organization has done for the past 22 years in creating a bioreserve.
Shweta?s amazing story drew loud applause from the audience . During the Q&A , Kehkashan informed the audience about similar green work being carried out by her in the UAE .
This event was unique among the numerous events being held in Rio as it was managed , conceptualized and presented entirely by two children.
