Major population of the world especially teenagers celabrate Valentines Day by expressing their emotions to their loved ones. But, due to my unfettered love for My Mother Earth, I decided to celebrate 14th of Feb, 2015 as Recycle Thon?15. I invited my fellow peers, neighbours, classmates & dedicated environmentalists to enter into a Green Competition & to collect the recyclables for 1 week. We targetted at Paper, Cans & Plastics. Al this was required to be brought at a designated place [Earthos? Cafe in Sharjah, UAE]. The recyclables will be weighed & Trophies shall be awarded to the highest contributors. I had also organised with Beeah [Local Environmental company] to send their vehicle for collection at the end of the competition and also award the certificates & Goody Bags to the participants. They have kindly consented for the same. I was elated with the overwhelming response of my initiative. Many persons registered for the competition including Tunza Eco-Generation Ambassadors. I felt very exitited with the excellent response of the people. On 14th of Feb, 2015 the venue was flooded with the recyclables. People brought heaps & loads of all types of recyclables. The love to the Mother Earth was overflowing. We managed to collect a whooping 1.3 Tons of Paper, 141 KG of Plastic & 11 KG Cans. Our Environment Coordinator Ms. Anjum Hasan [2015 Hidden Eco-Hero] had kindly accepted to grace the occasion & distribute the Trophies & Other prizes. It was time for some discussion, Round Robin & Prize distribution. I addressed the noble gathering by stressing the fact that this was the effort of these individuals for just 1 week. If we all make this a habit by not throwing the recyclables in garbage & mounting the land fills, we can all make a huge difference. The Earth will be greener place to live. This will show our true love to the Mother Earth. All this we are doing is for our benefit in the long run. In Round Robin I asked each individual present in the Recycle Thon to share their past green activity. They all responded enthusiastically & the Round Robin was a huge success. In addition to the winner trophies we kept many additional surprise prizes like The person who came earliest to the venue on-time [On-Time Collector]. Most Organised Collector. Overall Winner in all categories, best Round Robin Speaker, Youngest Collector etc. At the end of the event when Bee?ah vehicle arrived to collect the recyclables it took them great amount of labour & time to stuff all the contribution. The Truck was full to the brim & we all were immensely happy & thankful to all the participants & winners of the event. Overall all participants were the winners as they all contributed & also pledged to continue collecting the recyclables in future as well. Thanks for reading & I Urge all Tunza Eco-Generation Ambassadors in all the countries to organise such events in their regions & make Earth a greener place to live & Survive. |
