The student community in UAE got on board to carry out planting the first 100 trees at Al Warsan landfill site early this week with the active support of Dubai Municipality, Middle Easts prime hotel operator Accor and UAE based environmental portal Goumbook.
As founder of SynergY, I take pride to commit and bring together over a hundred youth and children in UAE to volunteer and join in planting the trees during 2015, with my assignment as Youth Ambassador for the campaign Plant for the Planet Campaign, that will see the first 1.000 trees planted over the next 12 months across the UAE, in specific sites chosen by Dubai Municipality.
This is an appropriate day to pay a tribute to the tree hugger late Nobel Laureate, Wangari Mathai in recognition of whom the 3rd of March, every year, is designated as Wangari Maathai Day. Dubai Municipality is regarded as one of the largest governmental institutions in terms of services rendered and projects executed, and are consequently the leading driver of growth and evolution of the Emirate of Dubai. The Municipality works tirelessly to keep the city green and focuses a great deal of attention and effort to educate the community, to ensure pollution-free, livable and safe environments.
As a 16 years old I believe in finding solutions by creating networks for children and youth to talk about the environment, and gain a clear understanding of environmental issues today, especially about the issue of landfills, as we need to reduce landfills hence improve waste management practices.
The community of students was fully supported by their parents as they carpooled, to bring in children excited to come even though some had to sit in for exams the following day.
The Ghaf, also known as the tree of the dunes and a solution to desertification, is facing extinction due to rapid urbanization and SynergY members are trying to reverse this process by conservation and planting The Plant for the Planet campaign will strive to improve the standard of living and facilitate participation for residents to become an active part of the citys green vision, and to help effectively manage its continued growth.

A hand of applause to you simran, Gud approach to fight against deforestation. Here in Tanzania, people cut down trees without replacing with new ones this is due to urbanisation, over population and migration to town.
Kudos once again.

Hey, Simran! Great job on planting trees with your group. We need massive reforestation here in the Philippines and should get the young people to do it, too.
