SYAH-SEYCHELLES VISIT TO GVI
Sunday 15th March 2015, SYAH-Seychelles (SIDS Youth AIMS Hub) in collaboration with Tunza Eco Generation Ambassador for Seychelles (also SYAH Member) organised a visit to Global Vision International (GVI) at the famous Cap Ternay (see my first article).
SYAH Members took the bus from town and had a little hike on their way to Cap Ternay. Where GVI volunteers where patiently waiting for our arrival.
We started the visit, with a short presentation about the work of GVI around the world and in Seychelles, from Andy, Emma and Chelsea, three GVI volunteers basically came from different parts of the world. Thanks to the awesome presentation we got to learn about their work, the ocean environment, history of conservation and amazing things about corals of which most of us did not know. (I will be posting more articles about it soon).
After that, we all went to the beach, Baie Ternay, and carried out a beach clean-up, apparently GVI volunteers, organise a beach clean-up every three months (cannot be done frequently due to lack of ?helping hands?), which is a great thing! Though, it is not their rubbish, but rubbish from the outside, being transported to Baie Ternay Marine Park due to the current and wind direction, GVI are doing a great job to protect the marine species from the debris.
We then went back to GVI home base, for a little BBQ, to get back the energy the food was fully sponsored by GVI (cooked and served). Great meal indeed!
Ended, by separating SYAH Members into groups of two, one group to go snorkelling in Baie Ternay marine Park and the other to go to on a 30minute hike up Cap Matoopa. Of which they said it was amazing!
We thank GVI for this wonderful visit and wish to come back again.
