Investigation on the preservation status of Mt. Suri (Korea National Park) |
---|
Hello delegates. I'm really sorry that I uploaded my new article so late. About three weeks ago, I visited Mt. Suri for my project (Project on Korea's National Park condition). This is the first mountain for my project and I probed the mountain's environment status. I would visit other mountains as well in the upcoming days. I'd like to discuss its preservation status concerning the two aspects on human and the environment. Before I start, the map below shows the location of Mt. Suri.
(The location of Mt. Suri) Firstly, I'd like to briefly discuss the facilities that helped people to enjoy climbing the mountain. To begin with, Mt. Suri had exercising equipment that can help people maintain their health.
Also, the mountain contained a small library which had free books. It helps people to enjoy reading in mountain, with fresh air. To add a little bit, the slogan of Gunpo city where Mt. Suri exists is 'Reading Gunpo'. Like its local motto, they are trying hard to achieve their policy. (This ambassador and a citizen reading book in the library of Mt. Suri)
Like many other mountains, Mt Suri also has mineral spring where people can get fresh water. (Citizens using mineral spring located in Mt. Suri) In addition, the interesting factor was that there were poems carved in rocks on the path of the mountain. It can make people to train their mind and relax. (poems carved in rocks)
Moreover, Mt. Suri had 'Acupressure plate'. I wonder whether this facility is familiar to all members or not.. since there is a cultural difference. In Korea, acupressure plate is very common. Many tourists walk on the plate with their bare foot since it activates blood circulation. I believe this facility can also be an attraction.
However, as an Earth lover, the environment of the mountain would outweigh than its facilities. From now on, I would like to explain good and bad sides of the operating system. I could see several problems occurring at Mt. Suri. The first problem that I thought was the tourists' attitude. There were many tourist groups climbing the mountain. Even though most of the tourists acted well, trying not to harm the environment, some people were sometimes too loud and even ate food. It would be okay if they clean it up, but to avoid pollution, tourists should gain good manner.
As we live in an advanced era, it would be hard for us to live without electricity. Realistically, eliminating the telephone pole would not be the solution. However, we should minimize its impact. For instance, we can utilize wooden poles to make it environmentally friendly.
There is a temple in Mt. Suri. Because of it, there were a few cars driving in the mountain. This would be truly detrimental to organisms. Therefore, I believe that many efforts and regulations should be done to stop the air pollution.
Lastly, the most important thing is that the roads of the mountain were made out of concrete. The higher area did not have concrete roads, however, the below region had artificial road. This would absolutely damage the mountain. It can be convenient for some people, however, for true environment lovers, they would prefer the original nature. We must preserve the environment in its original form, and should minimize the interference. ![]() This was my review for the visit to Mt. Suri. For the next visit, I will promote TUNZA Eco-generation by having campaign. Thanks.

'Acupressure plate' (Y)
I definitely go with you. Road network could be a comfort for some, but we would rather prefer to trek in the natural trail enjoying the pristine beauty. :)
Thanks for the report of Mt. Suri. Sounds like mountains from our Hiamalayan region )

Thanks for introducing Mt. Suri to us and also sharing your experiences and observations.
I am impressed with the facilities it has especially the library , acupressure track and poems on rocks.
Tourists should maintain the neatness and beauty of mountain and should not throw the litter around.
