In abundance, we often fail to fully realize the value of essential resources, it is only in times of need that their significance is prized.
Rajasthan, is a generally arid state in India which often suffers from drought.
Here, Mr .Rajendra Singh, a water conservationist hailing from Alwar, Rajasthan has dedicated his time to helping make sure that over 1000 villages get water water.
Not only that, he has also helped in the revival of 5 rivers by using techniques that are put into use by his NGO 'Tarun Bharat Sangh'.
'Tarun Bharat Sangh' played an important role in battling the mining lobby and the bureaucracy.
He has also helped villagers in very arid areas to manage water by using johads, rainwater storage tanks that collect and store water throughout the year so that they can be used by humans and their livestock in addition to many other path breaking techniques .
He is known as the Water man of India and has been awarded the Stockholm Water Prize which is known as the Nobel Prize for water in recognition for his efforts.
These actions are commendable and prove that the power to change can happen with true determination, effort and perseverance.

Thanks for introducing Rajendra Singh . Glad to know him as water hero of India. Reviving local initiatives for water – which have thrived for ages in the arid northern regions of India – Rajendra Singh and others in Tarun Bharat Sangh (TBS), have helped to lead by example in implementing local, community-driven and controlled water solutions. This success story is an outstanding example of ordinary people??s enterprise to find solution to local problems.
A very inspiring story.
