The idea behind SolaRoad is simple: sunlight falling on the road surface is absorbed by solar cells and converted into electricity – the road surface acts as a large solar panel. The electricity generated in this way will find practical applications in street lighting

What an amazing idea it is! Thank you Simran for keeping updated with the newest environmental technologies :-) Wow can human pave the roads with solar-cells(mostly made of silicon sourced from sand) in near future? It's worth living in this planet watching amazing changes!

SolaRoad is indeed a great idea. The increase in overall energy demand, and the desire for more renewable energy sources, requires such innovative thinking and new methods of electricity creation. It is great to know that energy yield is more than expected.

Yeah Exactly Anthony, it's such a cool idea. Road surface acting as giant solar panel is amazing. Success is already on the way just within six months. I wish all the best for this pilot project.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful news dear Simran :)

This is amazing. I am thinking now if the road can hold large trucks and smaller cars without causing considerable damage to the photoreceptor. Cool idea really and what is more cooler is that it is already generating more electricity than expected. Kudos to all those behind this great innovation.
