BRAZILIAN ECOLOGICAL CORRIDOR PROJECT |

Ecological Corridor is a habitat separated by human activities or structures. It can also be called habitat corridor, wildlife corridor or green corridor. This allows the free gene flow and sometimes re-establishes the populations that have been reduced or eliminated. The main purpose of these protected areas is to increase the biodiversity by preventing ecological damages. That is, the key strategy is to protect wildlife from negative effects about inbreeding and decrease of genetic diversity. The Green Corridor Project of the Jalapao region in Brazil started with the Chico Mendes Institute (ICMBio). This project has been supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Sustainable Development of the State of Tocantins (SEMAD). Moreover, SEPLAN, NATURATINS, SEMA/Bahia, INEMA are important partners of the project. The main goal of the project is to strengthen the conservation of ecosystems in the region by reinforcing the integration of the existing conservation communities with project of the Jalapao area. The Ecological Corridor Project develops the plan for appropriate strategies and takes essential actions to maintain or restore ecological connection among protected areas in Jalapao. |

Ecological is the mostly important for the movement of the animal and plays vital role in biodiversity conservation !!Wild animals being the free ranging,ecological corridor can be the bast way to sustain the wildlife in their natural habitat,the picture seem very interesting !! thanks for sharing,Luiz !!!

Ecological Corridor seems to be a good concept, Luiz. Hope it is successful in the Jalapao region in Brazil.
The concept may be promoted in other regions as well.

I really wish for the success of Ecological Corridor project in Brazil. I guess it's like a Buffer zone in the National Park area, where any sorts of human activities are prohibited.
