A truly sustainable outing-WED Part 2

Dear Eco-Generation members,

Recently, it came to my notice that Kidzania, an extremely famous amusement centre in Dubai, had adopted the ideals of Kids for a greener world-Sustainability @ Kidzania. This slogan immediately caught my attention and I made it a point to definitely visit this place, where Kids have their own city, they can be any profession they like, and they can care for themselves with their own currency, own degrees and even own ?Pazzports?.

Since Sustainability came into play, I really wanted to give it a visit which I did, on 5th June, or the World Environment Day! At Kidzania, numerous activities were lined up for children such as:

1. Eco Quiz:- In the main plaza of Kidzania, an Eco-Quiz was held every two hours to decide who had the best environmental quotient (EQ). We were divided into teams and my team won both the times that I played.

2. Tree Planting & Paper Recycling:- On soaked and crushed paper which we moulded into a flower, we planted some seeds in the paper. I watered them the day before, yesterday and today, and I can actually see them sprouting!

3. Making Birdhouses from Recycled paper:- We decorated used and covered magazine papers and then designed them in the shape of a Birdhouse. Unfortunately, I have no little birds but I can always give them to my friends so that they too can turn green!

4. Green Street Parade:- There was a street parade idealizing the ideas of a green world where we were shouting slogans and parading the entire Kidzania.

5. Painting: There was an outline of the official Kidzania mascot, Urbano, who was pictured as placing a light bulb in numerous sockets that were all over the Earth!

6. Sustainable Jobs: Such as working for the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and fixing leaks and power failures and also working as a recycleable truck collecting driver in Averda, Dubai's Recycling Co.

There were also bottle and can recycling stations where two bottles could give you one Kidzo (Kidzanian Currency). It was a great incentive! It was called Reva, and was also an Averda service.

In a nutshell it was an amazing experience as I enhanced my sustainable attitude through hands on experiences.

@Anagha, Thanks for your comments. UAE Govt. is indeed appreciable for such efforts. We all residents must support & encourage such drives.
Active participation of residents is imperative to make them succeed.

    Seems like great fun.

There were also bottle and can recycling stations where two bottles could give you one Kidzo (Kidzanian Currency) This as best way to encourage kids to recycyle. Who wouldn't do that for the Kudzanian :D

Kidzania is indeed a great attraction for kids. Kids really enjoy enacting and roleplaying as airhostess , pilot , bank manager , cook ,perfume maker, fireman, doctor, police officer, journalist, beautician ...80 role plays. I visited there 3rice and enjoyed everytime.
Glad to note that they lined up eco activities for kids. Thanks for sharing. Kids really get a feel and learn about eco values through these activities.
