Brigada Eskwela 2015: ?Making Gothong Memorial National High School Greener through Engaging Youth to Mural Painting?

Brigada Eskwela is one of the important activity happened every school year where the students, faculty, volunteers and the administration get together to make a kick off for the school year 2015-2016.

Last May 18-22, 2015, Industrial Engineering Council officers and I volunteered to paint the walls of Gothong Memorial National High School in Taboan, Cebu City. Gothong Memorial National High School is a public high school with at most 1000 students from 1st year to 4th year. Since it is a public school, there were several organizations that sponsored and others gave their service through manpower. Davies Paint, Dating Daan, and Industrial Engineering Council were the partners of the Brigada Eskwela 2015 of Gothong Memorial School.

Davies Paint sponsored almost 15 gallons of paint (white, black, and the primary colors). The main goal of the Industrial Engineering Council was to ignite the spirit of volunteerism of the youth and to engage them to environmental awareness through mural painting contest. The reason why there?s a contest was to further acknowledge the effort made by the youth. The mural painting contest was open to all dedicated, artistic and environmentalist youth who wants to join Brigada Eskwela.

Well, I think there were almost 15 contestants who join the mural painting contest and I am truly happy that I was part of the contest.  The theme of the contest was ?Making Gothong Memorial School Greener through Engaging Youth to Mural Painting?.

When I was thinking what I wanted to paint for the mural painting contest, Tunza Eco-Generation came up to my mind. Well, I chose to paint the picture in the brochure given to me by the Tunza last April. The reason why I chose that picture to paint on was to make it as symbol of my Legacy that I am an advocate of Environmental Awareness of the Youth. I just like the concept of the picture in the brochure because it more on Shaping Eco-Leaders of the Future.

All in all, it was such a great and eco-friendly event that made my summer more fun and interesting. I truly believe that we able to leave a Legacy and Impact to the students of Gothong through those informative mural painting.

Protecting our Mother Nature through

Engaging youth to a Holistic Mural Painting and

Promoting a school to an eco-friendly environment.

Mural Painting contest is really a very different activity. I liked how intelligently you thought of picture from Tunza Brochure to paint.Paintings on the walls would keep reminding people about the environment and the role they have to play in protecting and conserving it .Indeed a very eco-friendly , fun loving and artistic event . Thanks for sharing.
