Tanzania's Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, in association with WildAid and African Wildlife Foundation has launched Anti - Poaching Campaign towards preserving the Natural resources both Fauna and Flora, to create and expose awareness to public about the severe poaching crisis that currently facing Tanzania. The event took place in Dar Es Salaam City, Tanzania.

The campaign will use Radio, Television, Social media (Facebook, twitter, instagram and so forth), Newspapers, Magazines and other channels of media with the aim of reaching as many people as possible even those who reside in remote areas.

Tanzania has lost 60% of its Elephants in the past six years due to ivory demand, which is a huge percent and hence decreasing the revenue that could have been, used in renovating the sector, which is generated from Tourism.

The event was, attended by the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Hon. Lazaro Nyalandu, Ambassadors from United States and China, Religious leaders, CEO of African Wildlife Foundation, Dr. Patrick Bergin, CEO of WildAid Peter Knights,  newly appointed Ambassadors Alikiba and Jacqueline Mengi and other Stakeholders.

Award winning singer and songwriter Alikiba has become an ambassador for the campaign and honored to support the campaign through Music that will automatically educate and entertain his fans to stop killing the beautiful elephants. Furthermore, he said that Elephants should not be, killed and be, allowed to live free and wild.

The Campaign also features Singer Vanessa Mdee, Jacqueline Mengi former Miss Tanzania, former NBA player Hasheem Thabeet. They will join hand with international icons like Jackie Chan, Prince Williams, David Beckham to mention a few.

The campaign has used influential people since majority of the citizen?s eyes are onto them and hence influencing their fans to stop killing beautiful creatures.

According to Hon. Lazaro Nyalandu, Elephants are at the top of the wish list for many tourists who pay a visit to Tanzania and hence it generates 17% to the country's GDP

(Gross Domestic Product) which is essential towards improving the sector and development as a whole.

Elephants plays a crucial role because they provide manure, create openings for other humans to pass, seed dispersal, tourist attractions and hence revenue. Therefore, there is a need for the country to fight against poaching.

This is a new era for Tanzania to be, backed up by International Organizations like WILDAID and African Wildlife Foundations.
