Yemen Conflict and Environment |
---|
A Saudi-led coalition has been bombing Yemen for 120 days in an attempt to fight off an advance by Houthi rebels who took control of Sana?a and advanced on the southern port city of Aden, exiling the president, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, and threatening to plunge the country into all-out civil war. The Saudi-led coalition has been supported by US intelligence and weapons . Extensive air strikes were launched against military targets, often located close to and within populated areas.
According to The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) estimates that of the more than 1,000 dead, at least 130 are women and 234 children. A total of 2,453 civilians have been injured. in violence in Yemen since 19 March 2015. We have been stripped of jobs, security, and basic services as well as facing fuel and food shortages. Nonetheless we are being stripped of a home ! This war is tearing the social texture in a way that makes it impossible to repair. Most of the cities and villages in Yemen desperately needs medical and humanitarian assistance, but it may yet be out of reach. A number of ceasefires to allow humanitarian aid to enter Yemen have been announced and broken as fighting, shelling and air strikes resumed. The pounding of Yemen?s cities has led to the destruction of buildings and infrastructure, which generates huge volumes of building rubble and pulverized building materials. All these activities can pose chemical risks. The particle size of the dusts can also pose a physical threat to respiratory health. Dusts may also be contaminated with explosives residues and combustion products. |

This is really disheartening to see the violence in Yemen and its overall consequences, this is a tragedy to the humanity as a whole. Just hopeful that the peace process resumes soon so that the innocent people and environment can live together in harmony. Prayers from Nepal :)

I wonder why people use violence to make their demands known, This is really pathetic and a major hazard even to the coming generations. Here is my condolences to the citizens of the country.

Violence , attacks like these by some extremists for their self interest causes damage to country's economy , social standing , environment , loss of lives and creates terror among residents especially the innocent children. It is really so sad. My heart bleeds for all such nations going thru such tragic times of disturbances like wars. May God bless you and all the residents of Yemen with peace and prosperity soon.

No matter how good the vested interest of any group or parties be. War does no good to any section.
Really sorry hear about this happening. I hope everything stops as soon as possible. I pray for your safety.
Our country was too got into decade long armed revolution. Nobody would would give heed to outcry of innocent people. Both parties were indulged in collapsing each other but we citizens were suffering the most. Luckily, we had peace process going on and War was full-stopped 8 years back. :)
