Every Drop Matters |
---|
The World water week is slated to be celebrated from 23-28 Aug, 2015. Ahead of this, a campaign has been launched by Dubai Electricity & Water Authority [DEWA] named ?Every Drop Matters?.
The rationale of this campaign is to raise awareness among the Dubai residents to reduce the water wastage by adopting environmentally friendly practices.
Water consumption in Dubai & UAE is among highest in the world & most of the potable drinking water is supplied through Desalination. Water is a scare source despite 2/3rd of the Earth is water, only 2.5% of the total available water is drinkable rest is all salty sea water.
In view of this the current campaign holds a major significance. It is not that UAE thinks of their own country. Despite being a water scarce economy, UAE Water Aid began as a campaign in June 2014, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide access to safe, potable water for 5 million people around the world. It completed, rather exceeded its target in mere 18 days. UAE Water Aid aims to strengthen the UAE?s status of following initiatives and humanitarian assistance to improve the living conditions of the poor and distressed, and support sustainable development.
To achieve this target, the Foundation will support global communities by providing effective pure water solutions, and promote R&D in solar energy-powered desalination, purification and management of water. In addition, the Foundation will form global partnerships and commit to investments in projects and technologies to support its prime goal of providing water to all those in need. I have attached a video in this reagrd: http://idm.ae/websites/demo/suqia/images/videos/suqia_video.mp4 My humble request & fervent appeal to all the readers, Ambassadors & Particularly residents of Dubai & UAE is the conserve water & avoid its wastage. UAE is deprived of water therefore we understand its importance. The idea is to spread this around the world for a sustainable future for Generations to come. Source: Gulf News |

As the title suggests "Every drop matters". We must use water judiciously like I use the water from our kitchen sink to water the plants in my balcony. Wherever possible , we should reuse/recycle water to reduce it's wastage. Thanks for sharing , Raunak.
