I love animals. Fortunately we have a huge zoos and natural environment having a biodiversity such as Amazon. I have happy news that the largest aquarium in South America will be open in Rio in 2016. To be honest, I don't totally agree with an idea of having animals in man-made areas for human. However, watching and approaching animals will offer people the chance to understand and learn to protect them as well
This aquarium named Aqua Rio are supposed to be built by the end of 2015, however, it was postponed opening on March, next year. This attraction is located in Zone Portuaria and consists of 5 floors with basement. It accommodates 8000 animals of 350 different species including sharks, sea turtles, sting rays and fish. This aquarium are supported fully by the private sector, partner companies and sponsors
The public is able to swim with the sharks and be closer to them. The biologists and the presidents of this project expect that it will be safe in that these activities will be proceeded in the controlled environment. Furthermore, those who are not willing to this program have another option to pass the underneath tunnels, which people can spend over night and experience the underwater world below.
I remember my volunteer time in Australia. I joined the Australia science festival in museum in Sydney. That time, there were very attractive programs that educators brought the various animals including snakes, flogs and birds etc and showed them to children and shared the knowledge with them. I was surprised with those practical programs which actually can give children a memorable education with practical experiences.
The Aqua Rio also provides the special programs for visitors. People are able to create their own fish with innovative technology, which will offer them to understand the underwater habitants more. The aquarium is considered as the place for a education, research and conversation as well as entertainment in particular, for children. The admission fee for children is free.
The attraction also has a partnership with the Research Center of Marine Biology that own a captive breeding program. They also anticipate the endangered species from this program to go back to Brazilian water. I hope to have chance to visit this awesome aquarium.
