Sweden's Capital City, Stockholm.

As I was reading through many articles about Sweden, I realized that Sweden has diverse ?green cities? each with unique way to protect our environment.  After learning each uniquely developed city, I decided to share each city with our eco-generation community. First notable city I would like to introduce is Stockholm.

To briefly discuss about this wonderful city, Stockholm is a famous water city. Many of the pictures of Stockholm I saw all contained clear water with green parks. Because the city is made out of many peninsulas and islands, the city?s nickname is ?beauty above the water.? Because of this gifted environment, the city consists of many organizations related to water, such as water prize committee or international water research institute.

Stockholm, also known as the ?world?s smallest Big city,? is built on 14 islands connected by 57 bridges, and s on the central coast of eastern Sweden. It was chosen as Europe?s green capital due to its well-practiced environmental protections and leading eco-friendly cities. The total absence of heavy industry makes Stockholm one of the world?s cleanest metropolises..

To go in depth with specific environmental projects of Stockholm, I would like to introduce the Hammarby City. Hammarby Sea City, or Hammarby Lake City - because Stockholm is surrounded by ?water!? - (Hammarby Sjöstad), is part of Stockholm?s 14 islands. As mentioned, this city was built for a purpose of a unique environmental project in Stockholm. This city has many goals for different areas of environment, and I would like to introduce some of the interesting factors of this city.

Hammarby city desires to conserve nature and creating new green public spaces. The city has built two eco-ducts to allow a large open air recreation area. The avenues connecting the city districts new green public spaces and forming green corridors runs all the way through the city. The green parks, such as Vitaberg park, are all linked to major green public spaces. The plants were protected with new trees. The parks not only served as resting place for citizens but also a healthy environment for diverse species.

(The specific details of Hammarby city will be discussed in next article!)
