Innovation

A few months before, I was join a competition named ?Mandiri Young Technopreneur 2012?.  In this competition I?d see many inovation were develop, and now I want to share some information of those inovation.  First inovation is T-Files is a turbin that turn currents into electrical power, it can installed in river and sea.  It was developed by some student from ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology), first research was start in 2005 involved 10 student and former rector of ITB.  In 2006, they succeed to create a small turbin that can produce 500 watt, it?s to low even for a house.  So they keep doing some research, in 2008 they installed a new turbin at Mutiara Beach, Jakarta, this turbin can produce 2.500 watt.  In 2009, they installed turbin at Nusa Penida, Bali that can produce 5.000 watt.  Today, they collaborate with some research institute to develop this innovation and they also looking for support from citizen and government.
The second innovation is water desalination from east Nusa Tenggara, a province in Indonesia.  A young person from a small community named ?Gang Motor Imut?, Noverius nggili create a water desalination in 2011.  It was a small tools with house form, where the roof looks like a piramid and there?s a hole in each corner.  It?s heigh 1,25 meter and roof wide 60 cm, beside that there?s a box inside the tools to put water.  How to use it? We just put 36-40 liter water from sea into the box and we put this tools in the area with the sun, so water will evaporate and there?s only salt inside the box.  From they research, in 3 hour, this tools can produce 12,5 liter clean water with box temperature reach 1000C and the salt will form in 2-3 days.  One again, it?s not a brand new innovation but it?s have the correct implementation.  This tools was installed in East Nusa Tenggara, where the sun sine very strong and temperature can reach 30-400C.  They goal is to develop this tools in a small island that didn?t have acces for clean water, and it price is very cheap because it?s so simple.
