Green transport is a very dear topic in UAE not only for governments, transport companies but also for car brands like Toyota and their dealers like Al-Futtaim Motors .To inspire creativity in youth, Toyota has designed a global initiative 'The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest' which encourages creativity in making next car, eco car and making the world a better place. This competition is the perfect platform for young artists to express their dreams for new technologies that will help make the automotive world better and more eco friendlier. Toyota received some wonderful ideas over the course of the competition. The contest saw around 1,000 entries from 12 different schools across the UAE participating across three different age groups: below 7, 8 to 11, and 12 to 15. The most amazing was from a ten year old girl Minhal Adnan Sami who designed a bright-coloured a super-eco vehicle "Ecofix car" that runs on fruit and vegetable compost and preserves rain for watering plants. When drivers put leftover biodegradable material in the fuel tank, they also receive a coin as an incentive. Minhal Adnan Sami, from Dubai, was among 1,000 local entries and 875,000 sent in globally. She and he colourful "Ecofix car" won Al-Futtaim Motors' Gold Award for her age group in May in The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest. Select artwork from the contest toured and decorated the Toyota facilities in the UAE, allowing an even wider audience to celebrate the talent and vision of the UAE's up and coming generation of artists. She called her car Ecofix because it is fuelled by fruit and vegetable compost, and rewards people for disposing of their compost in a more efficient way. The compost then helps plants grow and use preserved rainwater to water the plants, meaning new plants can grow to feed villagers in an efficient cycle. She became one of 30 finalists who got the chance to go to Japan to experience the Japanese culture in Tokyo and Nagoya, ahead of the international judging ceremony held on August 26th. As per the latest announcement , Minhal brought home (UAE) the top prize. She won the Engineering Inspiration Award, which is granted to the entry that most inspires Toyota's production staff. She was one of just 30 young people shortlisted from 875,000 (from 81 countries )and travelled to Japan to collect her award. Many young student artists had some fantastic efforts that addressed societal issues and sustainable eco-vehicles to keep our planet green. But her creation was unique and was brought to life by Toyota's Prototype Production Division, which developed a 3D clay model to be exhibited at Toyota facilities throughout Japan for the next year.
Minhal said that many people in the UAE use too much fuel, waste leftover food and that water is a scarce resource. She said, "There's a lot of pollution and litter and the greenery is decreasing. So my car uses leftovers that people would otherwise throw away. Our school is very focused on making the world greener and I'm always thinking about how to help the environment." Minhal said she hopes a vehicle inspired by her design might be seen on the roads, adding: "I hope it can be done one day." Poor people get coins when they put the daily fruits and vegetable compost in the fuel tank. This car separates seeds from the compost, dries them and throws them on the grass so that new plants can grow. This car also preserves rain water to water the plants from the tailpipe. This car is helping the environment and people and also spreading peace to all. Picture credit : Ken Ishii / Getty Images Sources : 7 days , The National |
