(Caution: The article is my reflection of daily plight we Nepalese youths are going through now. The words and sentences are within writer?s discretion. The sole reason of this writing is to depict current scenario of youths through youth's eyes and not intended to hurt sentiments of any nationalities or person. Mistake will be corrected.)

[Background:

Nepal has promulgate New constitution Nepal Constitution 2072. It is one of the most democratic and advanced constitution of the whole world. With more than 90% people voting 'for' in the Constituent Assembly Hall, the constution is handover to Nepal. Its one of the very few constitution written by the selected delegates of the people. LGBTQI, marginalized communities and minorities have been given several constitutional right. Seven Decade long dream of Nepalese has finally come true. The making of constution has been one of the finest democratic practise of participating at state building proccess. Its indeed is an epitome of Democracy. But what was considered to be greatest truimph and dream has come to be known as greatest nightmare. (I don't like to blame other but this time its the politics in its one of the dirtiest form that has crumbled Nepalese decade long dreams)]

Me and my friends like previous year planned for our ?Get Together?. Later We got message many of them won't be able to make it up Chitwan. Sad as we were, we canceled this year?s plan. None of us felt good because this is the only time where we could rejoice together. When I looked into the calendar, I realized Dashain was approaching steadily. Praying my lord Shiva, I wished this blockade be wiped out at least for this season.

It was lovely morning of September. Autumn has already kissed us. I had national daily paper in my hand. Big headline in block letter written as ?There will be continuous strike on Dashain? got my attention. Making grimace face, I went back to my regular work. I was enraged by this wrath of unethical politics that is being played in our beautiful Nepal.

Every Time I  read headlines, I got blue. So much of hate was being spreaded by few corrupt leaders, with ceaseless lust for the power and nothing more.I stopped following any news headlines or people spreading any kind of hateful message. I filtered my news-feed with only positive people of my life.

Another day,  I was standing in terrifying long queue lengthen every second. I hoped to get few litres of petrol today. As the ill luck would have it, getting petrol became merely my hope. Using the reserve petrol, I went back to my place.

A week later, my mom requested me to bring traditional ?Chulo? ( made up of soils and used for cookings using coals and firewood). I was reluctant to buy this unhealthy cooking device but I couldn?t stand by my ethics. I gulped my principle and went to market walking for more than an hour to buy ?Chulo?. Nowhere in the market I could not find a single piece. Demand was so high that it got all perished. So I returned home, empty. My tiresome search for 3 hours yielded nothing.

Later at evening, I logged into facebook. There was flood of comment demanding for 1-2 lt of Petrol and Diesel. In fact many of them were willing to pay price five times the general market price. (Its costs normally $1.1 per litre. However, we are paying $3.5 to $5 per litre.) This was not so surprising considering how essential petroleum products are for us.

Like many Nepalese, I got exhausted wondering about future of Nation. I was drowsy. All of sudden there was ?Beep Beep? message tone in my phone. I quickly gazed. One of friend messaged me saying it's like ?The NightMare Life without Fuel?. Oh yes, the article we read at our highschool and written Issach Asimov. How true each and every words of them were. Despite being an old article, the article has gained even more weight with time.  I replied ?At least we have fuels on other parts of the world.?

Sigh! At least we have fuels on other parts of the world. That was the only best thing we can imagine now.

To be continued...

Oil crisis has paralyzed economic progress of Nepal. The tankers barely suffice weekly demands. I do hop concerned government officials listen common man outcry and take action. At least for the sake of Humanity
Thanks for your deep concern Arushi.

It's really so sad that because of political issues , common people in Nepal are facing the brunt. It is festive time in India and Nepal and it gets really frustrating if in such times you have limitation like fuel crisis. It dampens the celebration mood. I can understand your concern, Rahul .
Lately I read that in early Oct , India resumed sending food, fuel to Nepal starting with 100 Indian trucks, mostly carrying food, and five tankers loaded with oil and gas entered Nepal after a meeting between officials from the two countries.
It seems it may take a while to bridge the shortage accumulated for days/months.

I loved the way you presented the scenario of Nepalese youth dear Rahul brother. We have been using electrically operated heater for cooking instead of traditional chulo but loadshedding time and often disturbs cooking. Just praying that the government works out to find a sustainable solution soon :)
