lBRAZIL| Brazil's pledge for climate change issue

by Luiz Bispo | 27-10-2015 21:10 recommendations 0

As people know, Brazil is the world's seventh – largest emitter of green house gases, which contribute to climate change in the world. Recently there is a good news that president Dilma Rousseff submitted the set of pledges on climate change to the United Nations this year.

Brazil agreed to increase renewable energy use by 2030 and proceed the massive reforestation. It is expected that renewable energy will have positive effects on Brazil's economy, which continue to struggle for in years.

In addition to that, the plan to push for clean energy use will create jobs and economic growth.

Brazil aims to curtail fossil fuel emissions to 35% below of 2005 level, by 2025, and to 43% by 2030. Also renewable energy will account for 45% of the total energy.

Brazil has already tried to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions and in particular, show the brilliant result in terms of reducing deforestation by 75% in the last decade. And now it is time to invest in clean energy industries that can boost jobs and achieve the emission targets of plan.

Wind and solar energy is considered as the biggest potential industry for growth. Hydropower in Brazil has been weakened due to serious drought, which led to a continuous blackout this year. Brazil expects that wind and solar energy will be necessary in a reasonable fashion.

Thanks for the report @Luiz Bispo, USA and Brazil affirmed their commitment to a strong global climate deal in Paris this December and announced joint programmes to develop clean energy and sustainable land use :)

All the best to Brazil for it's fight against climate change. Happy to know about it's plans to move forward aggressively in the arena of clean and renewable energy. I am sure it will do great there as it did and showed in reforestation results in last decade.

Though Brazil is one of the leading polluter of the world, I am much happy to see the commitment of Brazil for fighting against climate change. Massive reforestation and increase in renewable energy consumption by decreasing fossil fuel will certainly help out.
Thank you for sharing dear Luiz :)
