It is however surprising that many people are ignorant about climate change and as result attribute its effects to the punishment of human race by God for our misdeeds. Some naively think that God has changed his calendar and that they will travel to the south to seek refuge from its associated effects. Neither of the above is true and this is a reflection of the fact that not much education has been done to create awareness.

It is imperative to know that our daily activities have either direct or indirect effect on the climate change. We have to be conscious about this and be more responsible to help reduce the impact of climate change.

Below are 10 tips to help reduce the impact of climate change:

Change a light: replacing a regular light bulb (incandescent bulbs) with a fluorescent one saves 60% of energy.

Avoid products with a lot of packaging: preventing waste from being created in the first place means that there is less energy wasted and fewer resources consumed. When you purchase products with the least amount of packaging, not only do you save money, but you also help the environment. Reducing your garbage by 10% reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 1,200 pounds.

Check your tires: properly inflated tires mean good fuel mileage. For each gallon of fuel saved, 20 pounds of carbon dioxide are also never produced.

Drive less: walk, bike, take public transport and don't drive unless it is very critical. All of these can help reduce biofuel consumption and one pound of carbon dioxide for each mile you do not drive.

When it is time for a new car, choose a more a more fuel efficient vehicle: you can save 3,000 pounds of carbon dioxide every year if your new car gets only 3 miles per gallon more than your current car.

Use less hot water: it takes a lot of energy to heat water. Reducing the amount used means big savings in not only energy bills, but also in the carbon dioxide emissions. Using cold water for your wash saves 500 pounds carbon dioxide a year.

Recycle more and by recycled: save up to 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide each year just by recycling half of your household waste. By recycling and buying products with recycled content, you also save energy, resources and landfill space.

Plant a tree and protect/ conserve the forest: forests play a critical role in global warming they store carbon dioxide. When forests are burned or are cut down, their stored carbon is released into the atmosphere. Deforestation now accounts for 20% of carbon dioxide emissions each year. A single tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.

Turn off electronic device when not in use: simply turning off your TV, VCR, computer and other electronic devices can save each household thousands of carbon dioxide each year.

Share this tips: draw the attention of your friends to read this article. Spread it worldwide and help people do their part. The more people you will manage to enlighten the greater your fight against climate change.

No time to wait, the time to act is now.
