Indonesia and COP 21 |
---|
On Monday, 30th November 2015, COP 21 (Conference Of Parties 21) was held in Paris, France. Indonesia?s President, Joko ?Jokowi? Widodo attended COP 21 as a representative of Indonesia. He took this opportunity for Indonesia to be committed in decreasing the carbon emission level by 29 per cent in order to stop the rising of the Earth?s temperature before it rises above 2 degree Celsius. The duties of Indonesia?s delegates To fight for the interest of the state by running low-carbon development and climate resilience. This is done by significantly reducing the level of vulnerability towards climate change and poverty. President Joko Widodo promises to apply one map policy to diminish conflict of land authorisation in Indonesia. One map policy is a policy that relates to the re-arrangement of lands and maps. Indonesia will also establish moratorium and reviewing the permission on the utilisation of peatlands and establishing Sustainable Forest Management or to hold down the deforestation and degradation of the forest. Indonesia will also plant more trees to accept more carbon dioxide. Other than that, Indonesia will also apply to the remote sensing technology to analyse carbon catchment areas. Individually, we cannot stop climate change, but together we can do it. Indonesia?s population has reached almost 250 million citizens, if we all plant trees together, we can make a difference. Wether it?s only a small tree in a pot, it would still make a difference. Reducing the use of vehicles would also make a difference. Use public transports or carpool with your friends. Start small, reach big. Remember, together, hand-in-hand, we can balance the world. |
