Coral Monitoring

by | 01-02-2016 00:17 recommendations 0

My monitoring trip to Les this time (Sunday, 31th January 2016) was a bit different that I have in routine. My team and I normally do it in sunny day, in dry season but today we did it when it was raining. Today was special. We were confidence enough to bring it on.

The sky was dark and the wind was strong not perfect. The water was wavy enough though, we knew this condition will affect the visibility underwater (which was only 3 meter) and our working moves. We worked on the swallow water with depth 10-12 meter, which is always affected by the wave.

The team was 5 of us. I was raining when we started diving. We dived around, checked all area where we planted the corals. I could say all of the corals we planted last October grow well and survived. They showed a positive growth.

Further, the colony started growing, sticking on the artificial coral site. And there are many fishes around. Yes, it is a good signal!!! Because they always find a place where provides many food for them.

They needs to be kept monitored regularly to ensure the corals survive and grow. The water temperature in Les, which is somewhat cold, helps coral survival and growth. I hope they will bring a positive impact to the sea.

Sustainability is based on a simple principle: Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly and indirectly, on our natural environment. Let?s go blue and save the coral reef.
