Earth, has been blessed with such an environment, which is uniquely ours. I say this because even in this scientifically advanced universe, there is no place whose environment can be found as life sustainable as ours. This environment, an aesthetic beauty is what is at peril today.
With the excessive use of earth?s extinguishable natural resources, we are not only slowly depleting its wealth but we are also paving a way towards for the end of life. Global warming, consumption of fuels, hole in ozone layer, and many other issues have been identified in recent years and have been the talk of the town. But the solutions for these issues still remain debated. I personally felt that our young minds, which are yet to be tampered with the societal commitments, can provide the perfect solutions when these problems are put before them.
Understanding the gravity of the situation here, I strongly felt the need to propagate this message to as many students as possible. I approached one of the well known schools of Ahmedabad, Udgam School. Here, owing to the class strength, students in primary and secondary sections come from various backgrounds. A chance to interact with these young minds turned out as refreshing as I thought of. Such occasions provide the students an opportunity to explore their potential and thinking capabilities to the extreme. Also, making them understand the whole concept, makes them aware of the environmental problems going around, and how by applying their own solutions, they as an individual can make a tremendous difference.
After letting them know about the concept in detail with the help of their teachers, in order to make the experience livelier, a painting competition was organized on behalf of PCRA and Paryavaranmitra. Here their solutions were to be represented in the form of posters, and winners were to be given cash prizes. The South Asian Youth Environment Network members were really active in organizing the event. The topic for the painting competition for 3rd to 5th class was Energy and Environment and for 6th to 8th class was Save fuel means Save Money.
As the competition progressed, one could see the eagerness and enthusiasm in these kids for letting their idea known to the world. It was heartening to see some of them portraying all their solutions in one poster. The level of understanding of today?s children in respect to their immediate environment was clearly reflected in these pictures. Most of them would make us think about their actions towards nature or rather about their role in protecting it. With these many results, it makes you pondering about our mistakes and the level of maturity shown by the kids in the understanding of such problems.
With the results in hand, one thing I was sure of. This event was a complete success because more than the kids I was the beneficiary. Their knowledge might have been enhanced with a further insight into the problems being faced around the world but I definitely had more than what I asked for. I had around 200 solutions which when properly fulfilled could be the first step towards protection of environment from my side in collaboration with children. I should also thank CEE, Paryavaranmitra, PCRA and SAYEN for allowing me to oraganize and be a part of their SAYEN team

Hello ecogeneration even i was eager to put the winning paintings but the winning paintings of this school will be competing for the national level and it will be unfair if i put the winning paintings before the results of National level
Will definitely upload the winning paintings after the National level results are declared http://paryavaranmitra.in/Default.aspx?sID=710
