The root causes of many conflicts are directly related to or fuelled by valuable natural resources, such as diamonds, gold, oil, timber or water. Addressing the ownership, control and management of natural resources is crucial to maintaining security and restoring the economy in post-conflict countries.

Good natural resource management can play a central role in building sustainable peace in post-conflict societies.

...For a Sustainable Future

The International Day of Peace offered people globally a shared date to think about how, individually, they can contribute to ensuring that natural resources are managed in a sustainable manner, thus reducing potential for disputes, and paving the road to a sustainable future, the "Future We Want". Peace Day event provided an opportunity to inspire individuals and empower communities to celebrate victories for peace that have been won throughout the year, and to rededicate our commitment to work for a more peaceful, just and sustainable world all year long.

Eco Generation-Ambassador Simran Vedvyas based in United Arab Emirates- Dubai, celebrated the International Peace Day- 2012, by participating as following-

At MY SCHOOL

 The Millennium School Dubai celebrated the International Peace Day- 2012, by organizing a special assembly to celebrate and reinforce the importance of taking care of our environment and Peace

Students worked on conducting Special Student Assembly which expanded to over 2000 students and 250 faculty members and invited guests- staged at The Millennium School, Dubai UAE, with main focus being Environment to rededicate the commitment to work for a more peaceful, just and sustainable world all year long.

The special assembly brought the elements of Peace – Environment and the beautiful colors that Peace can bring to our lives and something we all must stand for.
Students prepared messages, videos and presentation to show what needs to be done for the benefit of the environment, what is being done by the students at The Millennium School what are the Consequences if we don?t take care of our Environment and how best the Children and Youth can contribute in taking care of the Environment and thus
ensuring to bring in Peace.

 Many Youth studying in The Repton School, Dubai, led by a friend of mine Ziad Haddadin, got together to ?Raise their Hands for the Middle East?

As  A GLOBAL CITIZEN AND REACHING OUT TO CHILDREN

In a Special Multicast, a web telecast link was created to connect- United Arab Emirates - Uganda – U.S.A and people form all around the world could log in too
Bavubuka Allstarz Foundation together with Stand Tall Education Network, orgnized Peace workshops to celebrate the international Peace day on Sept 21 2012. The event brought together peace activist and ambassadors and members from different countries like myself Simran Vedvyas student of The Millennium School Dubai along  with Bwette Frank Gilbert from Uganda, Seb Grace, Ashie Hirji, Grace Apita and Julie Caldwell from USA among other dignitaries shared views to inspire the children via Read My Lips - Live, Earlyliferadio technologies about ?Culture of Peace".
So we truly can say The World Stands Together for Peace.
