In Jakarta City, polystyrene foam or known as styrofoam today becomes pollution in river besides plastics. Many traders who use polystyrene foam for packaging food. In fact, it has bad impact to ecosystems and the human body. That is the background of the urban project from upstream group, Teens Go Green this year.
The Upstream group, Teens Go Green focus on forest, upstream and mountain area. Urban project is a project run by students from Jakarta City to persuade people in city to give high attention for the current environmental issues. This time, they made a video about polystyrene foam journey from the upstream till downstream. From the video, we?ll know that polystyrene foam becomes pollution in river besides plastic. It prevent the speed of water, so the water will be overload and cause the flood. They took Ciliwung River and Cisadane River as the !==!==!--object--==== for this project.
As an effort to reduce the use of polystyrene foam by people, upstream group Teens Go Green held an environmental education on September, 30th 2012 Pending Village, Bogor, West Java. Upstream side from the river is the start point where water will flow. So that?s why it is very important to keep it clean.
The Lorax became an opening session to open the eyes of the participants. This Film tell us about the importance of tree as a source of life. Furthermore, a fable about the importance of clean rivers being the main menu introduction of children to polystyrene foam. Drawing competition with the theme "My Environment" became a kind of visualization for children to visualize the dreams that they hoped in the future.
Last, "Nge-Liwet", eat together with a banana leaf as food container. It made togetherness between us and the villagers. After the event, trekking to the river was a good choice. Here, Cisadane river is still clean, flowing smoothly with the rocks at the base as natural filter water. We, as an urban people were very rarely seen this conditions. Urban Project on that day closed with an amazing experience. (b5) |
