ATTENTION!!! International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict is almost here |
---|
ATTENTION!!! The world will be celebrating the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict on the 6th of November. This day is a day to remind people that our environment also suffers in times of war and conflict. During these times, animals are killed in numbers, trees are felled, and the water and land is polluted. Moreover, many of these wars have been caused by the desire to acquire natural resources like oil, gold and diamonds as well as territory (land). It is time to realise, that if resources such as water, flora and fauna are destroyed, the society may never recover economically. Nevertheless, we must also remember the soldiers putting their lives on the line to fight for our countries. Let us remember the souls lost and those trying to survive the horrors of war. During this day, I urge you all to do something – plant a tree, give a talk or presentation to students, make posters, paint something or make paper mache figurines. Remember anything is something but be creative. Let people know the effects war has on our environment spread the word! for more information, visit the UN and UNEP website or go to http://www.go-green.ae/greenstory_view.php?storyid=1890 |

This is a great information! Thank you for sharing.
We talk about climate change a lot. But we often neglect that war and regional conflicts contribute enormously to harm on the environment.
