Teens Go Green is a teens‐led community focus on environmental education, initiated by Indonesian Biodiversity Foundation, Ancol Corporate, and Education Agency of Jakarta Province. With almost 300 student members come from around Jakarta, Teens Go Green aims to raise environmental awareness among teenagers and facilitate them to take action and inspire people. Recently, Teens Go Green now is doing Anti-Styrofoam campaign with slogan ?Styrofoam? No, Thanks?. This campaign aims to socialize harmful effects of Styrofoam usage to public, especially urban people. Actually, it?s quite difficult to deliver this message since we're playing in an urban and big city like Jakarta. When we face Due to this we?re always trying to create delivery method that fits for urban people, especially youth urban. One of method that we're doing now is engaging youth urban to take action through competition and art. I believe that art is universal and can be accepted by different level of our society, especially teens and youth. Some of our creative activities are public campaign and teens competition.

Public Campaign

To attract public attention, we always do face painting and then walk around with message board on our hands, and sometimes we also do theatrical action like pantomime, etc. We also doing roadshow to school as our public campaign with the main menu is story telling for students. Last Roadshow, we visited Al-Fikri Junior High school to share our environmental activities.

Teens Competition

Teens competition is our annual event that held regularly in December. Last year in 2011, we held it under the theme ?Art to Earth without Styrofoam?. The Competitions are Icon Design, Research, short Movie and Rally Photo. Besides the competitions, for the main event we held an art performance for the audience. There were some performance such as Musical Poem Reading, Teathrical action, magic show, live music, etc. On this event, we succeed reached almost 500 teens and youth participants to get involved.

Teens Competition 2012

By doing many activities in these almost 5 years, we held our regularly annual event again on this December. With the theme ?Water Vs Styrofoam?, we try to raise environmental awareness for young people in national scale of Indonesia. Thru Competition, young people can contribute to spread environmental awareness. The Competition are Photo stories, Movies, Action Research and Making Digital Games. This event also as media communication to us to show up our journey in last 5 years. So that, next we can give more contribute to our beloved mother earth.
