World Business Council for Sustainable Development(WBCSD), a global organization of companies aimed at creating a sustainable future for business, society and the environment, forum is currently held in Seoul, South Korea. It will be scheduled  to go on until November 2, 2012.

Members of the WBCSD include global business giants such as Toyota, General Electric, BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and Shell.

At the opening, Mr.Paul Gilding,an Australian environmental activist and former head of Greenpeace, addressed that Asia was leading a drive into solar and other renewable energy sources. Mr.Gilding pointed out some interesting facts while he was explaining the importance of renewable energy. He mentioned about 'Geo-political power'.  For instance, armed forces from Singapore, Germany to US were aware of increased competition for water, food, and other scarce resources, which are greatly affected by climate change. Huge monetary concern lied there. Also,if China dominates solar power, it would take away source of income from Middle East.  He talked to the room full of global ceos why these matters are great concern to not just governments but also business sectors.

U.N.Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon also addressed at the opening, emphasized  the role that businesses play in promoting sustainable development, warning against the social perils of rising inequality and unemployment worldwide.  He also said that companies must create social, ethical and environmental values to become good models for society.

You made a good point of the WBCSD. Great job.
It's really interesting that renewable energy can be a hot-potato in Geo-political power games.
