Many would know the Tetrapak Beverage Carton which is used to store juice, milk etc and distribute them in easy packs to public.
Tetra pak beverage carton is made up of 7 layers consisting of plastic (21%), paperboard (75%) and aluminium foil (4%).
Each layer has a different function like serving as a liquid barrier, giving stability, and protection from light, odour and exposure to oxygen etc.

Why is it important to recycle?
- Precious resources used in making tetra pak cartons can be recycled to make new paper products and even aluminium and plastic industrial products.
- Recycling saves substantial energy

Cartoona Club has been launched by Emirates
Environmental Group (EEG) to :
Spread awareness on importance of recycling Tetra pak beverage cartons.
Guide friends to the recycle bins installed in the school
Dispose the tetra pak beverage cartons correctly in the bins assigned for the purpose and assist further recycling efforts.
Over the last few months, EEG has been actively promoting this recycling initiative and formed a club named Cartoona Club.
Recently EEG invited the club members to write a poem and each member contributed a few lines to the poem. EEG helped co-ordinate this song, edited and finalized a song called the Cartoona Club Anthem. This song will be useful in conducting presentations about the activities of the Club and spread awareness on Tetrapak recycling.
The Cartoona Club Anthem was launched officially yesterday (29 Nov 2012) during the Inter-College speaking competition organised by EEG at Knowledge Village in Dubai.
Many of the Cartoona Club members including me have spent a lot of time during the past few weeks, practicing the song and learning the dance steps under the guidance of Ms.Mary Shayne, project co-ordinator at EEG.
Ms.Habiba Al Marashi, Chairperson of EEG gave an introductory speech motivating all students who had come for the Inter college competition on various environmental related subjects. Launching the tetrapak recycling anthem during the competition helped immensely to carry this message among many likeminded people.
