The Clean Up UAE Campaign was conducted on 12.12.12 organized by Emirates Environmental Group and many other organization joined as sponsors and volunteers. 42000 volunteers turned out across 111 locations spread across the country armed with biodegradable rubbish bags, reusable cotton gloves, caps and special T-shirts.
This year?s campaign was the 11th annual Clean Up UAE Campaign.
Initially organized in four emirates (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman) during 2002, it is now held even in the remote areas and small islands of the country's seven Emirates.
The campaign saw the collection of 165,000 kilograms of paper, 100 kilograms of batteries, 2,000 mobile phones, 7,500 kilograms of plastic, 1,400 kilograms of juice packs, 1,500 ink cartridges and 8,000 kilograms of aluminium cans.
The number of participants showed a 55 per cent increase while the volume of waste collected increased by 97 per cent.
The event demonstrated the collective enthusiasm of volunteers irrespective of gender, age, race, nationality and culture. All united with a motive to clean up, enjoy and preserve the environment for sustaining future.
Myself and many friends participated in this event after the Tree Planting Event on 12.12.12 at the Zayed Scout Camp in Abudhabi.

This is such a great achievement!
A person can't change the world. But if we gather our effort, we can do many great things like them.
