The World Future Energy Summit(WFES) 2013 began in Abu Dhabi on 15th Jan and I received an invitation to attend the same. I had attended the 2012 World Future Energy Summit last year as a delegate of UNEP and I am the only Ecogen Ambassador to have the privilege of attending the prestigious WFES in both years.
As a part of attending this summit, I took part in a path breaking discussion called ?The Global Sustainable Cities Network? organized by MASDAR , UAE?s pioneering alternate energy company. The panelists were eminent experts in their fields and their discourse revolved on why and how sustainable cities had to be our future. How to build sustainable cities where the basic principle is ?zero carbon living? was the theme of the forum. Naturally, such cities needed to use alternate energy generated from natural sources such as wind , solar power , hydro or as a combination of the same. As opposed to fossil fuels which pollute, these natural energy sources are clean – the only deterrent is the cost but the economics of the same needed to be looked into by policy makers to make it a viable alternative for our future.
There is so much to report from WFES and its been a privilege to learn from the experts.

@Alberta I agree with you. If we are not connected through this Ambassador program, we would've missed a lot of thing regarding environmental issues.

You must have learned a lot of things. Good job, Kehkashan.
Yes, sustainable city is not just a norm of future trends.
As climate change is hitting the globe harder, sustainable city has to be implemented right now.

You are absolutely right. We must move away from all kinds of fossil fuels - coal , oil etc . These release huge amounts of CO2 which pollute the Earth. Also, the world has limited quantities of fossil fuel ..... so isnt it better we look for alternate energy!

Hopefully, our future energy needed could be supplied from renewable energy, not from fossil fuel. but today, in my country, most of electrical energy produces from coal that we know not friendly to our earth. :(
