It's a bit sad story that I got when traveling to the Sempu Island. As you can see in my previous report, Sempu Island is absolutely beautiful. But behind the beauty of its nature and the sea, this island is also dirty because of the trash strewn around the island. :(
No kidding, it's real. A lot of empty plastic bottles, food wrappings, and a lot of other stuff that are not supposed to be seen in this national park. Many visitors who camped there deliberately leaving the dirt remnants of their needs so in the other side, this island looked rundown and irregular.
I was very concerned to see it all. I also tried to make Aulia, one of my friends, to do cleaning with our best we can. But because the trashes in here are too much and we didnt bring trash bags as we used to do so as we attempt was in vain.
It is a beautiful place. It still is, even with non-degradable plastic bags floating in the turquoise water and scattered on the sand, so imagine how beautiful the place used to be WITHOUT the trash. If we let Sempu Island tainted by ignorance visitors, the greater risk is waiting. Hopefully this does not happen again when I come back to this island. :(

Oh it is sad to see. People are doing this mainly due to the lack of awareness.

The pictures are depressing. Lack of awareness is the main cause for this.

Its really sad to hear that, but if you tried to make a big group to star to recolect the trash and recycle, and then tried to awareness the people that visite the island.

I'm sorry to hear this.. It's still nice that you tried to clean the trash though. It would be great if a environmental group spread the news about the island..

Sad people spoil nature, authorities alone cannot help, soon people activism only can change these attitudes.
