The view of buses hanging the advertisement of Green Climate Fund can be easily seen in the street. The Board of the Green Climate Fund selected by consensus Songdo, Incheon City, Republic of Korea as the host city of the Green Climate Fund. The six cities in contention were Germany, Mexico, South Korea, Namibia, Poland, and Switzerland but South Korea was selected by consensus. Attendees of the GCF's latest meeting, also in South Korea, had identified a determination in the local delegation to host the fund, with the country's President making a trip to the meeting to lobby on behalf of the bid.
What is the purpose of the Green Climate Fund? Given the urgency and seriousness of climate change, the attainment of the Fund is to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts towards gaining the goals set by the international community to combat climate change. The Fund will contribute to the achievement of the ultimate !--object--ive of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, the Fund will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. The Fund will be guided by the principles and provisions of the Convention.
According to the executive summary of Republic of Korea, it states various advantages and its characteristics which clearly meet the need of GCF. From its inception, New Songdo City was designed as a low-carbon eco-friendly city that embodies Koreas which is a vision of Low Carbon Green Growth. It has set a voluntary target to reduce carbon emissions to 38 % below BAU levels by 2020 and has enacted a municipal ordinance to this end. The main buildings in New Songdo City, such as Convensia, has received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. During the presentation, Korea did its best to persuade the delegates by claiming the fact that Korea shared green growth with the global community. For example, in the aspect of green policy, South Korea chose the target as 30% Emission Reduction, promoted green credit card and carbon mileage, and continued its interest on renewable energy.
These facts were all considered into selecting Republic of Korea to host the Green Climate Fund and henceforward insight is positive. Songdo's uppermost IT infrastructure and ubiquitous environment can provide paramount business surroundings. By regarding this issue as a tipping point, Incheon can definitely build up the city and embark the second leap.

@Czar that's the problem actually. These things always happen. Executing is much more important than launching a project. :-)

From where will the funds be gathered? I hope everyone will be informed so that everyone can help in any way they can for the common goal that we aim. :) Good luck with the initiative.
