Towards a healthy heart-Step by Step

The AKMG emirates group organized the save a heart day event on the 3rd of may 2013with great fanfare and pomp at the Indian trade and exhibition centre (ITEC) near expo centre, Sharjah. This event was supported by the Dubai chapter and the cardiology society of India-emirates chapter.

There was a walkathon in which everyone took part enthusiastically. There were 5 stations during the course of the walkathon , and in  every station there was a  cardiologist who came up to us and informed us about a step towards a healthy heart. The five steps were-

Step 1: eat right
Step 2: walk more
Step 3: check your risk factors
Step 4: Say no to smoking and alcohol 
Step 5: lower your stress levels

The walkathon was followed by a painting competition for children from schools and associations. The different  active rise in which the children displayed their exceptional talent were-  drawing and colouring, painting and poster designing. All the artists gathered and displayed their ability.

The event was inaugurated and graced by dignitaries such as MK Lokesh, ambassador of India to the UAE and padmabhushan Dr K J Yesudas who did more than 300 heart operations in his charitable organization.  A heart surgery screening camp was also organized  with 20 cardiologists and cardiothorac surgeons who will select suitable cases for heart surgery in the UAE by the AKMG group
