(3) Depletion of India's Groundwater Resources

by | 23-08-2011 08:26 recommendations 0

The latest World Bank report, 'Deep well and prudence: towards pragmatic action for addressing groundwater overexploitation in India' suggests water pricing measures that will hopefully establish recharging options for water resources in India. Increasing depletion and exploitation of India pose an extreme threat to the long-term stability of such an important resource in India.

According to the same report, by 2025 apporximately 60 percent of the groundwater blocks in India will be in critical conditions. Such change will force further strains on the long term groundwater resources in India.
