RWANDA YOUTH IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT MEETING OF 17TH MAY 2013

The meeting was organized by Biodiversity Conservation, Hygiene, Sanitation and Environmental Management Cooperative (BIOCOOP Rwanda) that I am a Technical Advisor. BIOCOOP is a cooperative of youth involving in biodiversity conservation, hygiene, sanitation, and environmental management for sustainable development. The BIOCOOP empowers youth Talents, Innovations, and Creativity to become entrepreneurs by using their skills and resources. It works in Rwanda, its headquarter is in South Province at Nyamagabe District with Ange IMANISHIMWE as the President.

 

The participants were from different Youth Based Organizations, government authorities, national and international organizations involving in Biodiversity Conservation, Hygiene, Sanitation and Environmental Management in Rwanda: Different authorities from government, the representative of Police at Tare Sector, Digital Opportunity Trust Rwanda . Rwanda Agriculture Board, Albertine Rift Conservation Society, GOOD NEIGHBOURS, IMF UMUTANGUHA, Rwanda Development Bord /Nyungwe National Park, DAI/NYUNGWE NZIZA PROJECT, World Conservation Society/PCFN, Tunza Ecogeneration, Smart Entrepreneurs.

 

The meeting took place at Tare Sector Office on 17th May, 2013 and was chaired by the Vice Mayor in Charge of economic affairs and development. Many partners participated in the meeting and contributed a lot in terms of providing advices and technical orientation to help BIOCOOP RWANDA to achieve the goals. In the meeting BIOCOOP RWANDA presented the Organization and after this the Vice Mayor in charge of economic affairs and development in Nyamagabe District moderated the discussion by giving time to every stakeholder who wanted to give idea on the Development of this youth Cooperative.

 Here are the recommendations given by Stakeholders:

  •     BIOCOOP RWANDA should develop the business plan for a big activity in each Department.
  •       BIOCOOP RWANDA should develop different project proposals asking some grants.
  •    BIOCOOP RWANDA should reduce the number of sub departments by combining some sub departments because some of them are similar.
  •     BIOCOOP RWANDA should take a 2 day retreat and set the Strategic Plan.
  •   BIOCOOP RWANDA should set the program of Horticulture to strengthen beekeeping.

In this meeting some partners including RDB, RAB, ARCOS, GOOD NEIGHBOURS, AND DOT RWANDA declared to work with BIOCOOP in different projects for sustainable development. BIOCOOP RWANDA members Suggested different NGOs and Governmental Institution to support these youth Initiatives. The Vice Mayor in charge of economic affairs and development declared that Nyamagabe District will support BIOCOOP RWANDA. The stakeholders were very excited because of BIOCOOP RWANDA initiatives for sustainable development. We will learn from our Partners advices and recommendations to improve our Community based activities.
