In 2010, the Center for Biological Diversity filed a scientific petition to get Atlantic bluefin on the endangered species list, and we'll fight in 2011 to make sure this extraordinary fish -- warm-blooded, fast as lightning and up to 10 feet long -- gets the protection it urgently needs to survive. " According to the report, consumer demand is driving overfishing. Already, more than 23,000 people in 99 countries have signed a boycott of bluefin tuna, and restaurants around the country have pledged to keep it off their menus. Source: center for biological diversity newsletter What's more, I also read that 30% of juvenile bluefin tuna were killed during the BP oil spill. The situation is critical.
