As requested by Eco-Generation, here is the summary of the lecture which I recently attended:
Mr. Abdul Aziz talked about the wildlife and what we should conserve , how we should conserve it and why we should conserve it. Firstly, he gave us some important terminologies that he said, was important to know for us. Ecology: The branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings Ecosystem: A biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment. Wildlife: Wild animals collectively the native fauna (and sometimes flora) of a region. Tundra: A vast, flat, treeless Arctic region of Europe, Asia, and North America in which the subsoil is permanently frozen. He then talked about the different ecosystems in which animals reside today such as desserts, swamps, tundra, hilly areas, etc. He told us about the number of different species of animals in these particular regions and their rate of extinction. What should we conserve: we should conserve wildlife and the different types of fauna in the whole world so that we can still get a hold of the vitalized beauty that they add to the environment around us. Why should we conserve: we should conserve because if we want different types of species in the world to live, we have to stop poaching them and continuously killing them for our needs. How should we conserve: We should conserve the wildlife by not poaching them and hunting them down, because if we do so, they can be extinct very quickly. We shouldn't do illegal logging at all for the betterment of the animals. If we can adopt these measures, surely, we can stop the wonderful wildlife from getting extinct. He ended by showing us some pictures of the wildlife in the middle east: some extinct and some not. Some of them are as follows: |
